Hot Flow (FREE Community Class)

This class is taught by:

Natalie Huffman

Natalie dove head first into the world of yoga in 2010. She immediately felt a spark of love for the practice, her body felt incredible and her mind felt calm. She studied with many amazing teachers and decided to go deeper and learn what yoga was really all about. In 2012, she took Anchorage Yoga's teacher training. After the training, she began teaching but continued learning. She has since gone to massage therapy school, trained with multiple teachers for Ashiatsu massage, and mentored with an authorized ashtanga teacher. She continues a daily practice and loves to share yoga and massage with others.

An ancient sage once wrote that the deeper purpose of yoga was to still the chattering distractions of the mind. I agree absolutely and dare to suggest that the intentional practice of any physical medium whether it be yoga, cycle, running or whatever it may be has the same outcome. At first, the practitioner seeks physical health with all it's benefits but after a while there comes a profound mental clarity that goes beyond the everyday thoughts and identifications of the ego. There is something that happens when our bodies become our ally through effort and self love that allows us to live more fully. I hold this conviction near to my heart, taking it into whatever I teach whether it be the physical poses of yoga, the stories behind the practice or an epic ride. My own journey has certainly proven this truth again and again. All the activities I explored on the journey towards yoga such as wrestling, T'ai Chi, sports fencing and hiking pointed in this direction. Looking back it makes absolute sense that I teach yoga and indoor cycle, but I still smile when thinking about it. Life has a way of doing that for us.

Come check out one of my classes, surround yourself with epic music, breath, discover the edge and move beyond it. Without a doubt, this process of expanding our physical health is a metaphor for all levels of our lives, we step past our habits and self-imposed limitations to discover infinite possibilities. Love and Gratitude!

I LOVE YOGA!!! Ten years ago I moved to AK for outdoor adventures! With yoga I have found an adventure within. My practice began when doctors recommended yoga to relieve chronic neck & shoulder pain. Three years ago In 2004, I took my first yoga class at UAA with Nirvair Khalsa and I was hooked. Later that year in Los Angeles I took another yoga class, it was then and there that I had bitten me by curiosity and wanted to know more about the practice of yoga. It still took 8 years before finally deciding dive deeper and become a yoga teacher. On a Thursday afternoon after a one hour Bikram class with Melanie It occurred to me that I needed to have this feeling of calm and inner peace in my life on a constant basis. Shortly after this experience I enrolled in the 200 Teacher Training program at Anchorage Yoga and now I have the honor of sharing my practice with you! Not only do I love the challenge of a strong well and balanced yoga class, I truly believe that the mind, body, spirit connection, is incredibly powerful. When I'm not using my son as a chaturanga weight pack , I can be found either taking a yoga class, seriously practicing hard postures, (I am determined to keep having serious fun with yoga), hiking, and/or singing opera. Yoga changed my life for the better and I am grateful.

My yoga journey began long before I attended my first official yoga class. A series of difficult life circumstances left me empty and searching for peace and centeredness. I didn't know it at the time but this was the perfect environment to plant the seed of yoga. One Christmas, I received a gift card to Anchorage Yoga and my life has been forever changed.

I graduated AY Teacher Training in 2015 and now feel so honored to teach beside the very same practitioners who instilled the love for the practice within me.

All levels. Our Signature Class! Hot Fusion is a dynamic vinyasa style practice that combines elements of Bikram, Anusara, Kundalini and Ashtanga Yoga. This "perfect" combination of balancing, strengthening, energizing and deep stretching poses set to music and practiced in a room heated to 95°. This class is appropriate for newcomers as well as the more experienced yogi. From head to toe your body will feel invigorated and detoxified while you sharpen your mental focus and renew your spirit. Be prepared to SWEAT!
