WHICH AIRPORT SHOULD I FLY INTO?
You will fly in and out of the Marrakech Menara (RAK) airport.
HOW LONG IS THE FLIGHT? WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE AND DEPART?
It takes over a day of travel from the US to Morocco. Morocco is 9 hours ahead of Alaska Standard Time. You will most likely need to depart the US by October 29th to arrive on the 31st.
DO I NEED A VISA?
You must have a valid passport with at least one blank page. Visas are not required for visits lasting less than 90 days.
WHAT IS THE CURRENCY? HOW DO I EXCHANGE MY MONEY?
The currency in Morocco is Moroccan Dirham (MAD or Dhs). Morocco is a closed currency country, meaning that technically you can’t buy or sell it outside of Morocco. You can exchange your currency at the airport. The rate is similar to that of a bank in the city. When bringing paper currency into Morocco for exchange these must be in good condition--no tears or ink marks. You may be able to pay with US dollars in some places but the mostly widely accepted foreign currency is the Euro. It is best to exchange your money upon entry.
Don’t bring Traveler’s Checks. Upmarket restaurants, shops and hotels or riads in Morocco usually accept debit cards. Those that do are most likely to accept Visa or MasterCard however may apply a surcharge to cover the cost of processing your transaction. Amex is not a popular card. Notify your bank/credit card company of your travel plans. The majority of your costs are covered within your trip price including: accommodations, meals (breakfast and dinner) and transportation while on the trip; however, tips, on-site purchases, and some additional excursion options are not included. *Please bring cash tips in Dhs for the retreat center staff*
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED?
Airfare from US to Morocco, tips, incidentals, alcoholic beverages or specialty drinks, additional activities outside of the planned activities
